Sidewinder

I’m going to try making a case for this Sidewinder bag to be a permanent addition to your club arsenal. First, it’s the perfect choice when other par 4/5 clubs come up short in certain situations. It can reach those long par 5’s that Windstrike can’t. You can hit over trees, don’t need solid ground or out of bounds areas, like with Hot Streak, Flashpoint, Skyfury or Explorer, to get your power. If you’re still an everyday Rocket user, consider this as a replacement. Sidewinder hits just as far, if not farther, and has much better accuracy, plus you don’t need to use two other club slots to boost it. And it’s a fantastic option for reverse and gravity tournaments!
As for our setup, the key is (as usual) where we have our level 10+ Meteor situated. Because it’s between Gearshift in the first slot and Sidewinder in the third slot, we’re focusing on bounce reduction and driving power. On a max level 12 Sidewinder, we’re getting a +16 power boost on our drives. That’s why it surpasses Windstrike’s range on those really long par 5’s, including many Tropical holes. Then we’ve got Conspiracy providing wind reduction and Maelstrom giving us additional bounce reduction, plus an excellent chipping option around the green. Between Gearshift and Maelstrom killing the bounce, the ball will splat very nicely on the green.
Sidewinder’s one Achilles’ Heel is that it’s spin stat is off the charts crazy, so you won’t be able to finesse your shots on the green like with other clubs. So, just keep it simple with this setup… no spin and aim right at the flag with the outer edge of the aiming circle just barely touching the cup. You’ll get a hop and very little roll towards the hole.
